Job Description

This position is part of Dispute Resolution Services within the Law and Regulation Department.  This position will provide hands-on support to attorneys and legal staff on the Subpoena Response Team.  Among other responsibilities, the Paralegal will review subpoenas for proper service; communicate and work with requesting attorneys; perform work necessary to obtain relevant documents, including researching internal systems and/or networking with various Allstate departments; analyze documents for relevance and potential need for redaction (for privilege, Personally Identifiable Information, etc.); prepare documents for production (including redactions); and transmit responsive documents to the requesting parties.  The Paralegal will work with attorneys to identify subpoenas that require objections, motions to quash and protective orders. The Paralegal will serve as a liaison between the Subpoena Response Team, requesting attorneys/parties and numerous departments at Allstate in order to timely and appropriately respond to subpoenas.


Job Qualifications

•    Four year degree AND Paralegal Certificate
•    Possesses 2-5 year of related work experience as a paralegal

•    In-depth understanding of and experience with the entirety of the subpoena response process
•    Experience with drafting objections, motions to quash and protective orders. 
•    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Ability to prioritize work and organize own time
•    Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects with consistently high quality results
•    Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
•    Ability to develop processes to create consistency and efficiencies within the team
•    Ability to identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements
•    Ability to train and lead routine work processes
•    Exposure to sensitive information requiring the use of tact and judgment 
•    Familiarity with the insurance industry, including policy and claim knowledge, is preferred.
