The Inside Sales Operations Consultant supports the achievement of profitable growth by developing, implementing, and leading strategies, processes and programs in the Encompass Independent Agency channel.

This is based in home office but open to remote employee. The Sales Operation Consultant is a feeder role for a Territory Sales Consultant.

Driving and Tracking Agency Results:

  • Consults with agencies to drive results in order to meet business objectives
  • Performs retention analysis and call-outs to agents, consulting on opportunities and addressing concerns
  • Provides insights to help inform effective regional, market and state specific sales programs to drive results
  • Ensures compliance with state, Encompass and Allstate rules, regulations, programs and guidelines
  • Works with regional territory sales consultants and cross-functional business partners to develop and implement market-specific sales tactics designed to achieve specific growth and profit goals and targeted business results

Consulting and Process Support:

  • Assists regional territory sales consultants and independent agency staff with the implementation of consistent business processes, with a particular focus on engagement and growth
  • Provides observation, advice, input and tips and suggestions to improve processes where appropriate, including discussing short term initiatives.
  • Assists in the building of best practices for the successful operation of agency owners and leverages opportunities to share best practices across agencies, sales leaders and home office staff

Agency Establishment:

  • Maintains proactive working relationship with regional territory sales consultants, including follow-up process reviews and periodic assessments
  • Takes accountability of communicating updates and progress with home office and sales leaders regarding process support activities conducted within the regions.
  • Suggests individual agency development opportunities to home office staff and sales leaders, as needed
  • Assists in agency prospecting on behalf of regional sales leaders
  • Agency contact for onboarding activities

Communication and Relationship Management:

  • Communicates Encompass messaging on all relevant topics, including business objectives, sales promotions and incentives, compensation and bonus structure, Allstate and Insurance Industry news
  • Customizes messaging for the specific agency, assesses the implications, and suggests necessary actions
  • Supports the sales leaders in communicating company business objectives (in the context of process implementation)

Field Experience and Development:

  • Conducts 2 agency ride-alongs with regional territory sales consultants and 1 agency ride-along with regional sales manager per quarter
  • Works with two mentors, with regular, documented developmental conversations

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to use Allstate technology, a variety of prospecting and quoting systems and to conduct business from a remote location
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office, including: Excel and PowerPoint
  • 3-5 years business experience, leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in insurance or financial product management, sales management or general management
  • Bachelor’s degree, business or technical discipline preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively interact with and influence agency owners, principals and staff; and associates within the internal Encompass organization
  • Excellent communication skills; speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • Strong general management, analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Relationship Management skills - Blends people into teams when needed; creates strong morale and spirit, defines success in terms of the whole team; creates a feeling of belonging in the team
  • Problem solving – Uses judgment by applying broad knowledge and experience when addressing issues
  • Planning and organizational skills - Can engage resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently
  • Strong knowledge of the Independent Agency insurance distribution channel, including industry competitors, major brokers and national industry associations
  • Sales skills - knowledge of all aspects of sales process and drivers (examples include: projections, goals, targets, shop, buy, cross-sell, retain, profitability, compliance, quality) 
  • Independent agency technology needs – Ability to integrate comparative rater, agency management systems, automated re-quoting systems and processes with corresponding Allstate systems
  • Must be willing to relocate within the next 2-3 years. 
  • Limited travel
