ARS Data Analytics organization is responsible for building Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence solutions/capabilities and contributing to Roadside Services Business objectives by identifying and developing growth and profitability opportunities that enable Allstate Roadside Services to generate profitable market share growth. Turn data into actionable insights and improve business performance. Identify the highest-value opportunities, source the most relevant & trusted data, apply world-class analytics and modeling, and drive data driven decisions across ARS business units.

 

ARS Analytics & Insights team embraces three key, interdependent components; Data, Analytics, and Insights that will make ARS drive better business decisions.  The ARS Analytics & Insights team is responsible for performing extensive data analysis including; ARS data comprehension, collect data, describe data, explore data, and deriving the right insights.  The core functions of ARS Analytics & Insights team are 1) Understand what the real business problem is, 2) Create an analytic plan with hypotheses, 3) Collect data, 4) Gather insights, and 5) Make recommendations.

 

 

Job Summary

The Data Analytics Engineering Expert is responsible for sponsoring the design and implementation of highly complex technical and analytical solutions and reporting tools to solve very complex business problems. The individual develops innovative strategic solutions and conducts highly complex partner, operational and/or customer analysis that have a significant impact on the business. The Analytics Engineering Expert will discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data, help to make smarter decisions and deliver better products & services. The Analytics Engineering Expert also will be responsible for formulating and executing on well-defined advanced analytics road map and architecture. Primary focus will be to apply data mining & machine learning techniques, perform statistical analysis, and build high quality prediction systems integrated with our products. Accountable for delivering world-class data science outcomes, solving complex analytical problems using quantitative approaches with a unique blend of analytical, mathematical and technical skills on programming languages that are used in big data environments. This role requires close working relationship with Business and IT leadership, internal customers, Business Alignment Teams, and Enterprise teams.

Responsibilities
Deliver on overall data analytics strategy, ranging from architecting open source based big data-analytic tools and building integrated solutions that meet business needs.
•Development and execution of comprehensive data strategy that considers the current and future needs of the ARS, and considers other enterprise data initiatives.
•Responsible for ensuring data adheres to corporate governance standards. Ensures credibility and reputation of high quality data.
•Provide thought leadership in the area of data management and data governance and understand data availability and quality standards (enterprise wide).
Partner with the Data Analytics Product managers and owners to understand business requirements to architect the data repositories for advanced analytics and visual analytics. 
Act as a cultural liaison and change agent between data analytics and technology to design and build the OLTP, OLAP, ODS, EDW, data marts, and Big Data. Work with IT teams to investigate and propose new technology solutions and services with an emphasis on flexibility and mobility.
Partner with enterprise data governance team to implement the data governance including data quality framework, metadata, and data security.
Drive harmonization, standardization and streamlined enterprise data architecture with clear focus on data govbernance including data migration, data transformation and data enrichment.
Engage with business leaders and team members including data analysts and data scientists to understand needs of business, formulate and document use-cases, turn them into data requirements, and structure data-based solutions.
Gather data from various source systems/databases. Cleanse, transform and prepare data ahead of analysis & data-mining phase. Perform exploratory data analysis, generate and test working hypotheses, and uncover noteworthy trends & relationships.
Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in technology communities and act as an internal mentor to users of these platforms.
Leads and directs efforts to use a variety of tools and/or programming languages to build highly complex reporting, data visualization and/or analytical self service tools in order to share data and output of analytical and/or model efforts.
Directs and leads the preparation of large amounts of highly complex inputs for use in analytical and/or modeling efforts
Understands data availability and quality (enterprise wide), performs validations throughout all phases of highly complex ETL efforts
Oversees root cause analysis and dependency analysis for highly complex ETL projects when needed
Creates measures to monitor the effectiveness of efforts in the category; coordinates with leadership

Job Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Masters in a field such as Data Architecture, Math, Business, or Computer Science
  • Demonstrable Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence experience and knowledgeable in various analytical modeling techniques
  • Working knowledge of MPP parallel data processing design, SQL, BI tools, and data management
  • Working knowledge of Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Cassandra, and Oracle data platforms
  • Advanced knowledge of technoogies such as Tableau, SQL, R and Phython
  • Architecture and applications on or incorporating innovative data analytic technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, R, and other open source and proprietary data analytics platforms and tools
  • Strong knowledge in use of enterprise-wide data warehousing options/opportunities and reporting tools/systems, as a business user not technical/IT user, to facilitate and support the analytical and reporting capabilities for operational data
  • Must have worked with multiple data warehousing methodologies and modeling techniques, such as relational, dimensional, hierarchical, and graph
  • Demonstrate ability to provide technical leadership on large complex data integration projects
  • Demonstrate ability to balance tactical delivery with strategic vision where necessary to meet business-driven, time-critical objectives.
  • Excellent communication/ influencing skills and ability to navigate through matrixed, integrated organizational charts and reach out to various constituent groups
