Job Family Summary

The Business Development job family is responsible for executing on long and short term sales strategies to drive B2B2C and B2B Sales. Business Development family specializes in various consumer/commercial product segments (i.e. Consumer Technology, Mobility, Digital Retail Sales, and Insurance). This team will be accountable for generating revenue and contributes to the profitability of Allstate Roadside Services.

Job Summary

The Marketplace Business Development Manager will work within a specific ARS vertical segment (i.e. online, retail marketplaces, digital partners) to create and execute both short and long term sales strategies and drive profitability.The role is responsible for selling industry leading roadside services and digital technology to assigned product segment. Building key relationships with new strategic partners is critical. There will be two distinct business development manager roles, one which supports selling roadside services and digital technology to the insurance channel and the other selling to the retail channel. The Business Development Manager within Allstate Roadside Services is responsible for driving revenue growth, and strengthening strategic relations within assigned product segment to drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain a thorough understanding of ARS products and strategy.
  • Tasked with developing, implementing, and optimizing Allstate Roadside Services partnership strategy to drive customer acquisition and revenue.
  • Responsible to evaluate, define, and negotiate new sales opportunities and work closely with internal teams to bring partnership to market.
  • Identify and assess and develop strategic partnerships with the mobile, technology, and consumer subscription industry.
  • Fully meet and/or exceed key sales targets, particularly revenue and profit.
  • Integrating contract requirements with ARS Operations.
  • Creating and executing a short and long term sales strategy for assigned product segment.
  • Beginning and advancing sales discussions within target online marketplace key prospects.
  • Representing ARS to internal and external emerging business and greater Allstate retail alliance members.
  • Identifying and leveraging subject matter experts within marketing, product development, and technology for sales growth opportunities.
  • Work with sales enablement team to develop content and training material to support product messaging.
  • Leverages industry knowledge and experience to draw conclusions and drive sales results for assigned product segment.

 

Job Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Ability/Experience

The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of demonstrated sourcing, developing and closing revenue opportunities.  This job is requires strong business knowledge of technology and software sales and strong leadership skills to effectively develop relationships across business functions.

This key leader will have:

  • Extensive experience with Consumer internet, mobile, or digital media, software or telecom.  
  • Proven track record for obtaining business results through the development of effective relationships including across other business functions.
  • A deep understanding of all sales related functions.
  • Relevant industry knowledge.
  • Strong distribution leadership experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Superior interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze financial data and assess market conditions, trends and indicators.
  • Displays knowledge of all aspects of sales process and drivers (projections, goals, targets, shop, buy, cross-sell, retain, profitability, compliance, quality, etc.)
  • Building relationships and partnerships in business-to-business channels.
  • Managed within a matrixed organization.
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills, ability to create strategy and lead its execution.
  • Superior interpersonal skills; can quickly develop relationships and inspire trust
  • Strong communication skills - Includes presentation, business writing, negotiation, motivation and relationship management.
  • Planning and organizational skills - Can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Problem solving – Uses seasoned judgment by applying broad knowledge and experience when addressing complex issues.
  • Team building - Blends people into teams when needed; creates strong morale and spirit, defines success in terms of the whole team; creates a feeling of belonging in the team; etc.
  • Education/Training Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required.  MBA or related preferred.
