The scope of this job is providing, interpreting, and communicating data and participation in the formation of financial plans, forecasts and consultation. The Financial Analyst position requires an individual that excels working in a fast-paced, multi-task environment and understands how to use data as the foundation for analysis. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and advanced interpersonal skills are required to translate findings into action across multiple levels of the organization.

 

Key responsibilities will include:
• Development and maintenance of models to track financial data
• Analysis of operational and statistical data to identify emerging issues / trends / opportunities and assist management in developing action strategies via written narratives and / or presentations
• Consultation with internal and external organizational clients on financial results and business issues to support operational efficiency
• Utilization of technical acumen to implement team / department objectives
• Expense planning, forecasting and reporting
•Storyline development - creates and delivers conclusive recommendation-oriented presentations
•Solid analytical skills and work ethic, including ability to take initiative, follow-up and pay close attention to detail
•Demonstrated initiative, creativity and a high degree of self-motivation
•Work effectively in a team environment
•Flexibility and adaptability to dynamic and changing work environment; ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects

Job Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience with quantitative analysis, research and reporting
  • Working knowledge of financial and accounting concepts
  • Analytical skills to compile information requiring combinations of data from multiple sources, the ability to work with numbers and formulas
  • Solid work ethic, including ability to follow-up, focus on details and take initiative
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive for continuous improvement - personally and with work assignments
  • Oral and written communication skills, able to work effectively with employees both internal and external to the finance function
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment
  • Effective time management and organization skills with a proven ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required. Working knowledge of Power Point and Word
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry or financial sector a plus

Education

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Business or related area of study
  • MBA or MBA candidate a plus

Computer Proficiency

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Microsoft Office Tools including the use of macros and formula creation.  The candidate should be proficient with PowerPoint and presentation design.  Experience using SAP, Business Objects and Tableau is a plus. SQL is a plus.
