Job Description


The purpose of this department is to to lead the planning and development of integrated consumer/customer communications that build Allstate Brand consideration, preference, loyalty and meet marketing business goals; To drive brand consistency and broaden the brand footprint across all media based on business goals and brand standards and guidelines; and to deliver those communications with operational excellence.


Customer Marketing partners with other areas of Marketing and throughout the organization to ensure all consumer communications are strategically aligned against business goals and objectives. 


As an Assistant Marketing Manager/Writer, you will help plan, write and organize a wide range of Allstate customer transactional communications – including direct mail, email, text, in app, display and other mediums. You will report to the Associate Marketing Manager and work closely to ensure all communications “put the customer at the center,” are brand appropriate, and improve customer experience at key transactional moments.


You will be tasked to help fix, reduce and rewrite/redesign Allstate customer transactional communications, pushing for simplification and greater personalization via data.


You will be tasked with the following responsibilities: 


  • Create content that’s thoughtful and moves people to action
  • Flex a range of writing skills, from technical to conceptual
  • Use data strategically to optimize messaging plans and deliver on personalization
  • Write, edit and proofread in a collaborative setting
  • Write copy that’s appropriate for project needs, from transactional to marketing
  • Ensure brand voice and tone guidelines are applied and consistent across all touch points
  • Partner with Consumer Marketing teams and other departments, building relationships with internal and external business partners and resources
  • Manage projects from ideation to implementation, including huge initatives and simple requests
  • Manage your time under a variety of conditions
  • Work with solid level of independence on new or unfamiliar projects of moderate complexity
  • Stay on top of industry trends




Job Qualifications


  • Intermediate organization and project/program/time management skills
  • Intermediate experience using Microsoft suite; advanced PowerPoint skills a plus
  • Intermediate relationship, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Beginner presentation development and delivery skills
  • Beginner solutions skills; flexible in times of change
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; strong ability to write, copyedit and judge creative
  • 3-5 years of Marketing experience, preferably including Advertising/Marketing Agency experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred: Marketing, Journalism or Communications concentration preferred
  • Must be highly motivated and a passionate team player
