As a Liability Claims Adjuster you are responsible for investigating unclear liability claims. You will take recorded statements, resolves loss of use claims, make payments to appropriate parties, and negotiate and settle liability claims. You will also deliver compassionate service that is fast, fair, and easy, to ensure customer retention while verifying coverage, investigating and determining liability.

Key Responsibilities*

  • Makes and maintains a connection with the customer by understanding and meeting their needs; serves the customer with empathy; and follows up to ensure that customer needs have been met
  • Researches and responds to moderately complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues
  • Summarizes documents and enters into claim system notes
  • Documents a claim file with notes and decision making process
  • Determines and explains minimum coverage limits in moderately complex claims involving single or multiple claimants
  • Obtains photos and/or conducts scene investigation
  • Takes recorded statements from claimants, insureds, witnesses, etc., conducts investigations into moderately complex auto accidents, determines liability, and prepares summaries
  • Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with business unit best practices
  • Salary paid commensurate with related experience

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 PM and rotational Saturday duty amongst the business unit.

Job Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of handling auto liability claims
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal or external customers and act with empathy
  • Applies general knowledge of claim processes, policies, procedures, claim systems, coverage, liability, damage estimating, and/or settlement, and adherence to applicable legal compliance standards
  • Negotiation and/or arbitration skills
  • Ability to investigate, evaluate, negotiate and settle moderately complex claims
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a passion for helping others
  • Persistence and the ability to work through and solve problems
  • Ability to interact effectively, and coach other on interacting effectively, with internal or external customers and act with empathy
