Job Description

Allstate is seeking a talented Software Engineer who has experience in Machine Learning to join the Allstate AI Center of Excellence. In this role, the Software Engineer will be responsible for researching, piloting, developing, or supporting Robotic Process Automation solutions (RPA), Natural Language Processing engines (NLP), or Machine Learning engines (ML).


• Research, pilot, develop, and support ML, NLP, or RPA based solutions (vended and homegrown)
• Define architectural approach and innovative design of complex applications including application architecture, technology selection, design configuration, and definition of solution alternatives to ensure system design meets functional and non-functional requirements
• Document detailed design, functional, and technical specifications
• Provide thought leadership on best practices for solution design, with a thorough understanding of enterprise application integration including the use of business process and forms, enterprise search, business intelligence, collaboration services, collaborative document management, and portal interaction on mobile platforms
• Support vended platforms
• Create and execute test plans to ensure quality and adherence to standards
• Work in an agile (Scrum) development environment
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and take appropriate action to remediate issues
• Off hours support as needed and participate in weekend application deployment and validation rotation
• Provide 3rd tier support to all areas of the business and will mentor, train, and foster lower support tiers

Job Qualifications

• At least 4+ years hands-on software development experience in either Java or .NET
• 2+ years RESTful or SOAP web services
• 2+ years of 3rd party vendor application production support experience
• 1+ year of GitHub, Jenkins and Maven experience
• Working knowledge of related technologies such as: SQL Server, Internet Information Server and Active Directory
• Experience with complete Software Development Life Cycle and iterative development methodologies such as Agile, with the ability to transform documented use cases into prototypes and finished solutions
• Strong communication, effective consulting, time management and analytical skills
• Ability to work on a team as well as independently with minimal supervision to achieve project milestones and deadlines


Nice to have:
• Experience with NLP / Natural Language Processing
• Experience with Machine Learning models
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Experience with statistical modeling
• Experience with Robotic Process Automation
• Experience with Blue Prism, Amazon Lex, Microsoft Luis, Assist Edge, or iMacros
Education, Training or Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
