Job Description

Business Intelligence is responsible for developing and implementing Encompass business intelligence solutions to enable data-based decision making.  They promote the value and potential of BI within Encompass.

The Analyst is responsible for delivery and support of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions to enable data-based decision making.  Conduct operational data analysis to support strategic direction of Allstate’s Independent agency business, Encompass.

  • Work with key stakeholders to define, document and socialize key metrics and integrate into BI solutions.
  • Gain understanding of customers’ processes & responsibilities to develop insight into how BI solutions can simplify, enhance, and support their work.
  • Proactively lead interactions with customers to understand, develop, document, and analyze data and reporting requirements.
  • Work iteratively with analysts and developers to communicate, translate, clarify, and refine requirements.
  • Produces design mock ups from requirements to clarify desired solutions for developers.
  • Apply understanding of business rules, data transformations, and data sources & uses to BI Solutions.
  • Develop & deliver reports to multiple levels of end users using a variety of tools.
  • Produce ad hoc queries for customers as needed.
  • Develop subject matter expertise
  • Aggregate, validate and analyze large quantities of data.
  • Leverage data & analytical skills to identify opportunities to influence process improvement and growth & cost drivers.
  • Synthesize analysis and prepare insightful communications.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing.
  • Train stakeholders on how to effectively access and use reports and analytics tools.
  • Validate, troubleshoot and resolve end-user issues with systems and reporting tools.
  • Provide access to BI environments as appropriate.
  • Respond to questions on interpretation of data & usage of reports.
  • Support update & maintenance of Data Dictionary.
  • Uncover data anomalies & inform Team regarding potential data quality and BI Solution performance issues.
  • Serve as Data SME for Application Projects to ensure data requirements are considered
  • Trains Technical Analysts & Developers on business operations and usage of data & reporting

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with data analytics & reporting.
  • Advanced MS Excel, Access skills.
  • Advanced Business Intelligence Tool skills.
  • Results-focused.
  • Able to work in an agile, iterative environment developing creative solutions & insightful analysis.
  • Highly curious with interest and proficiency in making sense of large and disparate data sets.
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills applied to business problems.
  • Capable of handling complex problems independently on a daily basis. 
  • Strong interpersonal collaboration and team skills including working with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Ability to synthesize technical and business concepts & communicate in a clear & structured manner
