Allstate Insurance has an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineering Senior Consultant in Northbrook, IL!


Claims Data & Delivery works with mutiple internal and external data sources to deliver data to the Claims organization that is readily available, easily accessible, accurate and complete.  Additionally, they are responsible for the data and delivery strategy for the Claims organization, including data governance.


This role provides day to day support and input for one or more tracks of work using appropriate technical skills/business knowledge to complete assignments that support Claims’ business goals in alignment with the Enterprise Data Strategy and Claims' Delivery Strategy. The Claims Data & Delivery Senior Consultant II will design, develop, influence, and manage Claims Data & Delivery projects in the following areas: strategic data systems for business use, strategic delivery mechanisms (including dashboards and reporting platforms), analytics research & development, Data Governance & Quality, adoption strategies, Enterprise Master Data Management, and the Enterprise Analytics Ecosystem to support Claims initiatives.


Provides day to day support for one or more of the following Claims Data & Delivery work streams:

  • Works with Lead Consultant with designing  a strategy for sourcing data for all business delivery systems used in Claims
  • Works with Lead Consultant, Claims business partners, and Claims Analytics team with designing a strategy for the timely, efficient, and accurate delivery of data to Claims business partners to provide the right insights needed to run their business
  • Provides implementation of proper definition and business logic for key business metrics, across delivery tools
  • Supports Analytics Research and Development as well as POC efforts in support of advancing Claims Strategic Initiatives
  • Assists with efforts to improve data governance and quality, increasing the reliability of our data, through identification and documentation of data lineage and working with technology partners to remediate data quality issues
  • Assists Allstate technology and Claims analytics with the creation of a single, trusted source for key Claims business data that can be shared across the Enterprise (Master Data Management), by helping to identify current data sources, data transformation business rules, and integration with current and future Claims visualization tools
  • Leading efforts to gather and share Business and Analytics input for consideration in the Enterprise strategy for enabling the right data to conduct analysis, inform decisions and deliver results (Analytic Ecosystem)


Responsibilities within these work streams include:

  • Assists in managing integrated, multi-track projects and/or programs in developing high quality deliverables, performance expectations, risk mitigation, and process development – often in an iterative agile phased approach
  • Tracks performance, establishes project controls and communicates risks & status
  • Translates technical concepts to business implications/capabilities for project requirements and discussion purposes
  • Provides feedback to program resources (budget, staffing, etc.) contributing to program execution
  • Contributes to functional strategy and defines success criteria for Claims-wide Analytical initiatives
  • Contributes to the common vision and helps drive communication throughout Claims to elevate the organizations’ commitment to clean, reliable, and accurate data and clearly defined delivery tools and strategy
  • Develops communication plans/strategies and materials to support programs or processes

Job Qualifications


  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science (or related field) or relevant experience preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a data and/or analytic related function
  • Ability to work with broad parameters in complex situations
  • Basic understanding of enterprise business units
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities preferred
  • Good organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to manage and coach others
  • Decision making capabilities including problem solving approaches, decision frameworks; ability to design and lead complex analysis
  • Ability to persuasively advocate a position and build momentum for change and action
  • Advanced ability to manage multiple priorities given aggressive timelines; comfortable performing in a fast paced, dynamic and ambiguous business environment; manage both internal and external resources
  • Ability to inspire trust and influence management
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with design or build of ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) processes and tools a plus
  • Experience with data warehousing and/or SQL a plus
  • Experience with design of Business Intelligence platforms and/or tools a plus
