Job Family Summary

Supports the strategic direction of Allstate, ATSV and specific Areas of Responsibility within ATSV by developing strategic communication plans and executing upon the plans; a variety of different communication deliverables and vehicles are used to reach defined stakeholders and address various business goals.

Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to assist in the development and execution of materials/events to support communication plans mostly driving employee related communications, including some more specific business related communications. Individuals in this role work closely with others within the team to expand their communications skills, including some coaching of clients, as well as furthering their knowledge of the business of Allstate/ATSV.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Develops strategic communications plans and tactics
• Participates in brainstorming sessions regarding root cause analysis of business issues and/or opportunities that lead to the development of Strategic Communications Plans.
• Researches and shares functional knowledge with others to support strategic, overarching plans
• Leads smaller projects or pieces of work within the strategic, overarching plans.
• Assists with execution of strategic communications plans under general direction.
• Coordinates activities and processes in support of the plan development and execution that require some integration.

Develops client communications content
• Creates content outlines and formats for stand-alone or simple to moderately complex communications for internal audiences.  Suggests and implements stand-alone or simple solutions with guidance to increase employee awareness and knowledge of activities affecting them.
• Develops error-free basic written communications that meet the client's requirements and demonstrate correct usage of grammar and punctuation.
• Partners with other communicators to probe clients to identify the information that is important to communicate.  Analyzes information gathered to recommend creative approaches and solutions.
• With guidance, begins to more independently identify approaches for work. Identifies/generates communication solutions and topic ideas to address client needs with review from more senior team members or management. 

Manages content review for communications materials
• Applies knowledge and understanding of approval processes and submits stand-alone communications to the client for review and incorporates edits.
• Relies on other communication professionals for continued guidance and direction with more strategic communication content approvals.

Coordinates and executes client communications meetings and events
• Develops and coordinates more basic client communications/ recognition meeting and events.
• Helps identify and secure speakers for events and coordinates schedules.

Develops and maintains effective partnerships
• Builds effective relationships within team and assigned client areas and establishes/maintains ongoing relationships outside of immediate support/reporting areas.
• Uses logical arguments to persuade others when presenting ideas and suggestions.
• Responds positively and persuasively to opposing views voiced by others.

Provides strategic communications consulting and coaching to key clients
• Participates in conversations with clients. Provides ideas on communications approaches and to help them think through how to approach communication challenges.
• Suggests potential solutions to clients in stand-alone, less complex communications projects or portions of projects.

Identifies communications measures and metrics to ensure desired outcomes and alignment to business goals
• Suggests and helps define the outcomes associated with communications upfront as part of planning.
• Obtains communication metrics, shares data with communication professionals to create recommendations for future changes or position to share with the client.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

Bachelor’s degree required in a communications related field (communications, journalism, marketing, English, etc.)

1-3 years combined internship or work experience in communications related role

General knowledge of Microsoft suite; intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint and Word
