Allstate Insurance Company has an exceptional career opportunity for a Claims Strategic Research Consultant in Northbrook, IL.


The Strategic Research Consultant is accountable for leading the development of forward-looking guidance to claims leaders with an emphasis on industry, technology and consumer trends.  This role is instrumental in providing context for and assisting in the development of claims multi-year strategic plan.  The position develops and fosters a network of inter-departmental and external relationships to aid in future mapping.  The role organizes research findings for internal reports and strategic recommendations for claims.

 

Key Responsibilities:


Research and Analytics

  • Performs targeted research using various sources, tools and applications
  • Develops an understanding of topics researched to a level that’ll assist strategic planning
  • Analyzes information and directs analysis from others
  • Leads the development of a comprehensive study of emerging trends; disruptive and otherwise
  • Oversees the organization and communication of research results to a broad audience
  • Leads research to develop an understanding of internal and competitor claim handling processes and practices as context for strategic mapping

    Internal Relationships

  • Builds strategy for identifying, building and maintaining strategic relationships within the enterprise
  • Represents  department in cross functional strategic sessions
  • Maintains an advanced understanding of our corporate direction to help ensure strategic recommendations are in alignment
  • Leads in development of our working knowledge of strategic initiatives in other business units to identify conflicts and opportunities in the claims strategic plan

    External Focus and Relationships

  • Develops team strategy for identifying and building relationships with external entities that will help provide additional context for strategic planning
  • Monitors external trends in related and unrelated fields to foster awareness and context to guide planning activities
  • Participates in conferences and boards as necessary

    Communication

  • Synthesizes research into concise and comprehensible summary of key elements appropriate for multiple audiences
  • Leads the development of directional recommendations based on research findings
  • Provides overview presentations of research findings and articulates fact basis for directional recommendations

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Sees themselves as a futurist and can identify trends/patterns in technology and consumer behavior
  • Good qualitative and quantitative skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office; specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Highly developed ability to use data sources and applications to conduct research
  • Ability to interact effectively, and coach others on interacting effectively, with internal or external customers and act with empathy
  • Ability to learn and apply working  knowledge of claim processes, policies, procedures, claim systems, coverage, liability, damage estimating, and/or settlement, and adherence to applicable legal compliance standards
  • Applies working knowledge of problem solving and preparation of reports for analysis
  • Applies basic negotiation and/or arbitration skills
  • Applies  conflict management and problem resolution skills in managing internal and external customer relationships
  • Applies problem solving skills to continuously improve business outcomes
  • Ability to assist leadership in achieving business unit objectives
