Job Description

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct, summarize, and analyze complex research, including gathering facts, researching and analyzing applicable laws, regulations, and case laws, etc., as necessary

* In a highly efficient and effective manner, conducts legal research/transactions and possesses high degree of competency in online legal research tools/transactional logistics; looked to as subject matter expert regarding legal research

* Independently determine if additional research is needed

* Proactively identify and summarize relevant issues; continually monitor issues and update attorney with recommendations, as appropriate

* Review new and proposed legislation and determine applicability

* Gather matter related documents for the attorney to analyze

* Manage intake of new matters; enter new matter data and upload new documents

* Consult with outside counsel, as needed

* Oversee project management, coordination, and collaboration with L&R, business clients and board members, as needed

* Manage data (execute, file, track, and retain) documents in matter management system

* Draft agreements, contracts, etc. with internal and external parties contingent upon attorney’s review

* Coordinate with various functions within the company to respond to regulatory inquiries, licensing requests, law department referrals, and business transactions

* Maintain familiarity with client’s business and business practices, including knowledge of key client contacts

* Consult and interview relevant parties for matters or cases (e.g. witnesses, agents, employees, etc.)

Job Qualifications

  • Four year degree AND Paralegal Certificate
  • Possesses 1 year of related work experience


  • Key skills for this position include:


  • Quick learner, self-starter, and works well in a team environment
  • Understanding of litigation lifecycle
  • Understanding of discovery tasks such drafting litigation holds, devising search terms, and establishing document review protocols
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and organize own time
  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects with consistently high quality results
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Relativity a plus
  • Ability to identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements
  • Tact and judgment with regard to sensitive information
