Job Family Summary

The Analytics Function assists management by performing workflow analysis, identifying process improvement opportunities, and conducting cost/benefit analysis of proposed changes. Analytics prepares customized analysis, model development, data mining and reports for management. Analytics develop predictive models to provide insights and improve business performance. Financial analytics forecasts, analyzes and evaluates financial performance and provides reports and analyses of performance versus operating budgets.

 

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, this job is responsible for designing and using analytical models to determine key drivers of financial results impacting various disciplines. This individual addresses non-routine and moderately complex financial problems and recommends solutions. This individual creates and manages the Claims Home Office expense and staffing plan and analyzes and monitors cost reduction measures. This individual also utilizes financial analysis techniques to help improve business results. The individual also delivers compassionate service that is fast, fair, and easy, to ensure customer retention. The individual works independently, prioritizes the individual's own responsibilities, and manages the individual's own workload. This job will also be used for CAT Analytics roles.

 

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Makes and maintains a connection with the customer by understanding and meeting their needs; serves the customer with empathy; and follows up to ensure that customer needs have been met
  • Researches and responds to complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues
  • Reviews customer satisfaction results; participates in determining necessary personal and business unit action plans

Financial Modeling

  • Combines large data sets of historical expense and staffing data in Access and runs complex analytical financial models
  • Analyzes financial models; identifies significant staffing and expense trends, correlations, and key drivers of results within different disciplines
  • Communicates significant results and findings with leadership and helps create an action plan based on the financial models
  • Tracks results and any improvement based on the financial models and action plans

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Monitors and updates operational and financial data on Home Office expenses and staffing on a monthly basis
  • Examines expense trends and identifies long and short-term impact
  • Reviews Home Office invoices, approves and ensures timely payment, and responds to questions regarding payment and timing

Data Management

  • Serves as a team resource in the use of MS Access, Excel, or other database and spreadsheet programs to store, manipulate, maintain, and modify large amounts of financial and organizational data
  • Sorts, filters, and queries data to assist with predictive financial analysis

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical area of study including Finance, Economics, Mathematics preferred or 5 years of related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and/or experience of computer applications such as Business Intelligence, SQL Developer, Python, SAS, R, MS: Access, Excel, PowerPoint; Tableau, etc.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact effectively, and coach others on interacting effectively, with internal or external customers and act with empathy
  • Prior experience with application of data and analysis projects from school or other corporate institutions preferred
  • Self-starter with motivation and discipline to complete work on time with limited oversight
