Join Allstate’s Life Technology Solutions Architecture team and help drive the technical direction for this Fortune 100 Company.


In this highly-collaborative, fast-paced environment, your role as a Solution Architect is to design innovative solutions to real business challenges, integrate with and evolve architectures in existing systems, and create business-driven technology roadmaps. This role is in support of the Life and Retirement business area.


The ideal candidate will thrive in seeking challenging problems, proposing and presenting solutions and products, building relationships within and across all levels of the organization, soliciting feedback, and finding ways to thrill Allstate’s customers.

Job Description

  • Serve as primary solution architect for an assigned domain of custom and vended products within the Life and Retirement technology ecosystem;
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining product roadmaps for assigned products within the Life and Retirement ecosystem;
  • Provide architecture governance for assigned products within the Life and Retirement ecosystem;
  • Closely partner and engage with product teams using different delivery methodologies;
  • Work with all levels of the organization;
  • Work across the organization including IT, Life and Retirement, shared-service domains, etc.;
  • Successfully communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale;
  • Provide Thought Leadership in the form of direction statements, technical roadmaps and strategies.
  • Capable of architecting custom products for cloud-based solutions and implementing vended application in a cloud environment


    Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain knowledge and experience as solution architect for another domain.

Job Qualifications



  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred or related experience
  • At least five (5) years’ experience designing and developing large-scale enterprise level applications or products
  • Minimum four years (preferred 5+) in the software engineering/architect role is desirable

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications (verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to meet deadlines with quality work product
  • Experience working with technical and business partners to plan for future state of products and develop roadmaps
  • Ability to communicate design rationale and set direction
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical product deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop new approaches to complex architecture and design problems
  • Ability to assess architecture and design impacts and effectively communicate those impacts
  • Must be organized, have an ability to work at conceptual as well as detail level, and be able to communicate ideas in a tangible form
  • Strong knowledge of architecture and design patterns and applications of those patterns
  • Ability to develop and design Proof of Concepts and Spikes a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Life Insurance, Retirement, Financial business processes and general insurance industry a plus
  • Strong skills, knowledge and experience in data, analytics, reporting, and integration technology domains.
  • Ability to concentrate on a wide range of loosely defined complex situations, which require application of creativity and originality, where guidance and counsel may be unavailable.
