Job Description

Allstate Insurance Company is seeking a well-qualified, experienced, and talented Application Developer to join the Agile development team in building services to support the Drivewise product.

The Application Developer core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop, execute, and document procedures and standards adhering to SDLC best practices including the Agile Scrum methodology.

  • Execute practical application of Agile framework components (user stories, scrum, sprints, etc.).
  • Participate in Scrum, Daily Stand-up, Sprint and iterative development activities
  • Participate in Sprint planning and release planning
  • Participate in backlog refinement
  • Provides sizing estimates for user stories.
  • Define acceptance criteria when stories are created

• Analyzes business needs and develops plans to implement software requirements in conjunction with product management and architects.

• Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analysis and take appropriate action to remediate issues.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Independently handles software/systems monitoring issues and tickets/ incidents.

• Collaborates with other technologists as a member of a broad, cross-functional team motivated to solve business problems.

• Off hours support as needed and participate in weekend application deployment and validation rotation

Job Qualifications

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field such as Computer Science or closely related field
  • Proficient in Webservices (REST, JSON, XML)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of full SDLC experience (analysis, design, build, stabilization, deployment) and
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Core Java
  • Experience developing APIs
  • Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Databases
  • In-depth knowledge of / skills in one or more of the following: MVC, Hibernate, Struts 2.0, customer-focused software applications development, Software applications security
  • Source Control Management (preferably Git/GitHub)
  • Experience in Agile (scrum or XP) development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, industrious person able to operate effectively and independently in a collaborative, fluid IT and business environment.
