The Learning and Development Professional Position Family provides consulting and solutions that increase individual, team and organizational performance as well as technical, personal and professional skill development to ensure our readiness for future challenges.


Job Summary


The Learning and Development Lead Consultant acts as a point of contact and consults on, develops, directs, plans and evaluates learning and development training programs and activities to meet organizational requirements.  Conducts assessment of needs to inform the development of learning paths, content, processes, and systems in response to organizational learning needs.  As a learning partner, consults with Senior Management on strategic direction as well as with area learning advocates on tactical needs.  Manages learning projects of critical importance, implements strategic change, and develops innovative solutions and systems to support strategic business unit objectives and address skill development needs across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire and use advanced knowledge about the client organization and business in executing learning and development activities
  • Anticipate needs and act as a single point of contact for L&D needs for AOR’s
  • Plan and prioritize needed organization-wide skills to support strategies and technology business partners  
  • Develop objectives and lead projects for complex competency needs – including courses, curricula, immersive programs, blending approaches or other solutions
  • Provide advanced consulting to clients and identify learning and performance solutions to address skill development needs
  • Utilize media and technologies to design and develop learning content and activities
  • Utilize information design methods to improve learning system usability
  • Research and benchmark industry and technology trends to determine emerging skills that are relevant to Allstate
  • Work with HR to close learning gaps and improve competency levels across the organization
  • Facilitate high-complexity learning events, activities
  • Use appropriate methods to evaluate learning solutions, including the collection and analysis of data 
  • Build strong relationships with all levels of leadership in carrying out learning and development functions
  • Uses agile methods in performing work, including use of test and learns of MVP and retros to delivery quickly and iterate frequently to ensure learning product continues to meet needs of the organization
  • Lead design efforts of instructional designers on learning projects
  • Creates network with senior leadership
  • Teaches and mentors other learning development professional in the practice

Job Qualifications

  • Strong communication, presentation & leadership skills
  • Experience of managing relationships with internal clients and leadership at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to understand industry trends, future strategies and product roadmaps
  • Ability to prioritize and drive delivery of viable solutions to the organization.
  • 8-10 yrs of prior learning and development experience
  • 2-3 yrs of prior experience consulting with Senior Management
  • Experience supporting skill development needs of technology jobs and careers
