Job Description

AMCS (Allstate Management Consulting Services) is a trusted internal organization providing integrated consulting services to enable our Allstate clients to achieve Our Shared Vision. We leverage enterprise resources to build a stronger business and act as an advisory partner that helps to improve Allstate performance by identifying and analyzing innovative business and technology opportunities, architecting new operating models, designing and improving business processes, and providing organizational redesign services.  We understand the organization and are able to influence business strategy by partnering with leadership and acting as connectors, bringing the right voices and fact-based information together so that business and technology leaders can make informed decisions that benefit our customers.

This position reports to a Manager and will be responsible for supporting the execution of management consulting projects and fostering client partnerships and relationships.  This resource should have some knowledge of consulting service methodologies.


Relationship Building: Builds relationships with business and technology partners as needed to accomplish assigned tasks.  Works cooperatively with engagement team, fostering "team player" attitude, and supporting efforts of the group in striving for a common goal.  Begins to establish initial business relationships with clients.

Communication:  Clearly and effectively communicates ideas and information to others, particularly through deliverable creation.  Ask questions to clarify assignments.

Corporate Awareness:  Understands the importance of visibility and networking.  Begins to build an understanding and knowledge of the organization and business.

Project Delivery:  Begins to understand how to identify client needs by synthesizing information through research documentation, information gathering, analysis, working session outputs, and client interviews.  Understands the basic implications of client needs and provides recommendations based on this understanding. Provides basic consulting services under the guidance and direction from more senior consultants.

Organizes and records research findings.  Synthesizes research findings and executes or contributes to the creation of reports.

Assists with the design of and participates in interviews, focus groups, and workshops as instructed. Co-facilitates these sessions, under the support and guidance of more experienced consultants.

Team Development:  Gains knowledge, expectations, and perspective provided by more experienced team members.  Performs tasks associated with implementing improvements to internal team processes with guidance from others.

Consulting Acumen:  Builds basic knowledge of common management consulting tools and methodologies by attending and supporting working sessions and assisting with the production of deliverables.

Functional Competencies

Business Acumen - (Novice)

Possesses fundamental business knowledge demonstrated by the understanding of key roles within the department, the larger organization and Allstate, primary areas and processes used, how individual roles contribute to departmental goals, Allstate’s strategic direction, policies, processes and procedures, business objectives, culture and values, products and services, and core business drivers (i.e., regulatory, compliance, political). Begins to understand the language of the business.

Facilitation - (Novice)

Has training or light experience facilitating meetings and processes. Is well prepared for meetings and sticks to the topics without deviating from the purpose of the meeting.

Internal Consulting -  (Novice)

Interacts directly with clients throughout the project life cycle. Shows a genuine appreciation for underlying business issues. Learns to successfully bridge the gap between the business need and consulting tasks through communication, professionalism, knowledge and service. Receives coaching on how to provide feedback to clients on status, problems, and solutions. Demonstrates initiative and supportiveness in client/staff situations. Has foundational skills at seeking out and finding all information that is relevant to a project.


Project and Program Management -  (Novice)

Understands the foundational elements of project management including the core components of resources, planning, communication, risk, project integration management, scope management, time management, quality management, and leadership. Learns to own a small portion of larger projects. With coaching, prepares status reports. Clearly communicates understanding of project objectives and assignments.


Change Champion - (Novice)

Possesses a foundational understanding of We Continuously Get Better as demonstrated by the ability to adapt well to changes in work assignments, policies, procedures and reorganizations. With coaching, accepts changes with a minimal loss in productivity. Proactively talks through changing situations and promotes transparency. Anticipates the consequences of actions and deals with them effectively. Recognizes that a positive outlook influences and motivates the attitudes and actions of others. Embraces and adapts quickly to changing environments and helps others adapt. Learns to take calculated risks and build on experiences. Views change as an opportunity to explore, grow, and innovate to gain a competitive advantage.

Job Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required.

1-3 years consulting experience or related experience preferred.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
