The Team

The Law Clerk job family supports the efficient operation of the Law & Regulation (L&R) department by applying knowledge of legal concepts and processes.   Under the direction of the organization’s attorneys and paralegals, the Law Clerk conducts research,  assists with project intake ,  and manages data and files in the case management system.

 

The Position

The Law Clerk is part of the Intake Unit which receives a high volume of “SOPs” daily. SOP refers to service of process and includes summons and complaints, subpoenas, garnishments, bankruptcies, etc. The role of the law clerk is to identify the issue in each SOP and route it to the appropriate contact in a timely fashion. The law clerk also develops and implements department practices and procedures; gathers information for analysis; analyzes data and information; collects, disseminates, and tracks documents and information; ensures accurate and timely information; drafts certain documents and communications.

  • Assist with intake of new matters; enter new matter data and upload new documents
  • Review and analyze SOPs received.
  • Summarize basic research, including fact gathering
  • Distribute documents for review as required
  • Gather documents and information for attorney/paralegal analysis
  • Assist with project management, and coordination, and collaboration with business clients within Law & Reg
  • Draft documents and communications with oversight
  • Validate current processes and identify need for process change

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field in related field required

One year of experience or entry level (This is a Non-Attorney position)

Advanced computer skills, including MS Office suite, Adobe Professional,  and other web-based applications (including but not limited to Lexis and other legal research tools)

Ability to work in diverse environments

Basic budget management skills and able to reconcile expense reports

Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Basic writing, researching, proofreading, and formatting skills
