Job Description

Data, Discovery, and Decision Science (D3)

D3 is the research and analytics organization at Allstate. We are solving some of today’s most complicated analytics problems, making the lives of our Allstate colleagues easier and more productive, and driving our mission to deliver perfect insurance solutions to our customers. We are avid about learning new ways to get the most value from our massive data resources. As a member of D3 you will get 10% of your time to innovate, learn, collaborate, and teach. We are partnering to incorporate analytics into every aspect of the enterprise. Developing ourselves and others is key to our success.

The Team

At Allstate we focus our data science on creating personalized value for our customers through data driven decisions instead of cloistered research. At scale this requires a comprehensive platform to get cutting edge machine learning into day-to-day business operations. The Analytics Engineering team builds products for the deployment of analytics across the entire enterprise, including predictive models and randomized experiments.

The Role

As a Product Owner in the Analytics Engineering team, you will be responsible for successfully developing a product in our machine learning deployment suite. You’ll champion the product to the business and work hard to understand their diverse needs. You’ll prioritize features, manage expectations, and deliver results consistently and in concert with other product development efforts. Your impact doesn’t just stop at your product; you will influence how we do data science at Allstate.

Your day-to-day looks like:

  • Leading execution of Agile product development for a cross-functional team of software engineers, data scientists, and analytics consultants
  • Story mapping, managing the product backlog, writing acceptance criteria, and being available for consistent guidance for the development team
  • Pushing for hypothesis driven development with measurable impact to users
  • Communicating value of product and accomplishments to department leadership to enable prioritization decisions

Job Qualifications

Successful Product Owners are typically:
• Experienced in software product design, software engineering, or data science
• Highly innovative thought leaders who envision and articulate radical change
• Proven champions of agile software development practices
• Respected by engineers for their technical prowess
• Excellent interpersonal communicators and collaborators
• Competitive with themselves while being humble

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.

Good Work. Good Life. Good Hands®.

As a Fortune 100 company and industry leader, we provide a competitive salary – but that’s just the beginning. Our Total Rewards package also offers benefits like tuition assistance, medical and dental insurance, as well as a robust pension and 401(k). Plus, you’ll have access to a wide variety of programs to help you balance your work and personal life -- including a generous paid time off policy.
