The Role

 

As a Data Science Solution Product Manager, you will join an ambitious team that is seeking ways to further Arity’s mission in making transportation smarter and safer.

One of the primary ways Arity delivers on its mission is through the power of telematics, data, and analytics to create the most accurate understanding of mobility and driving behavior. For example, we continually strive to decrease response time to accidents by improving our ability to detect when a person has gotten into a crash. To do this, our proprietary algorithms analyze billions of driving miles and activity streams, distilling the flood of information into actionable insights. But generating these algorithms is tough work and your team will be critical in speeding up their development.

Before we can deploy our algorithms to our customers, our data scientists and machine learning engineers need real world data on which they can build and train their models.  To address this, Arity has formed a product team whose focus is solely on collecting and labeling test data to help Arity build more quickly. This team has collected millions of miles of highly granular data to date. Your role will be to \grow our test dataset even more quickly, satisfying a wide range of research use cases.
 
You will have a charter to identify and define customer pain points, ultimately being responsible for enabling our data scientists and machine learning (ML) engineers to deliver their algorithms into Arity apps and services that serve our customers. This includes gaining empathy for your customers and their needs, managing the strategic product vision, and executing on your product strategy. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, drive and execute product strategy for Collectr, Arity’s solution for capturing and labeling real world movement data for machine learning engineers.
  • Engage in hypothesis generation and discovery/test & learn activities to learn more about your customers, validate assumptions, and determine product investments.
  • Use metrics to measure the success of your efforts and to inform overall product strategy.
  • Manage a product backlog, create effective user stories and provide timely stakeholder updates on development iterations.
  • Ensure the successful execution of agile rituals to support highly iterative development and learning loops.
  • Contribute to our learning culture by coaching and/or mentoring members of the cross-functional organization.
  • Partner with Product Marketing Managers to develop and execute internal & external communications related to your product and/or portfolio.

Job Qualifications

  • 1-3 years relevant product management experience, preferably developing modern data platforms and/or compelling mobile user experiences
  • 5-10 years relevant new product, service or technology development experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear passion for the challenges in the mobility, urban planning and/or smart city space, and an ability to identify ways data scientists and ML engineers innovate in the given space
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to tackle big, undefined problems and to pursue new, sometimes undefined markets
  • Ability to be self-directed and to proactively anticipate problems & to address with innovative solutions
  • Ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to a broad range of stakeholders
  • Understanding of and experience working in a KPI-driven environment using Agile/lean development methods
  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in business, data science, or computer science preferred
