Allstate Insurance Company has an exceptional career opportunity for a Business Analytics Consultant in Northbrook, IL!

 

Claims Business Analytics works across a variety of business and operational disciplines to provide common data, metrics, and analytical support that drives optimal business performance. Our work includes data management and governance, standardized reporting, analysis of business results, workflow analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and model governance. We also support the development of strategic goals for the Claims organization, including defining measures of success.

 

This experienced individual contributor is responsible for providing Line Management and Operations organizations with analytical support on data, reporting, and staff modeling. They are responsible for providing business and financial insights when collaborating with project and Line Management/Operations leaders to identify, and recommend financial improvement opportunities.  They are responsible for designing and using analytical models, including staffing models, to determine key drivers of financial results and proactively monitor business metrics to identify and communicate issues. This individual will partner with discipline leaders to addresses non-routine and moderately complex financial problems and recommend solutions. This individual utilizes financial analysis techniques and develops understanding of the data and processes of the discipline to help build, update and support staff models.

Job Description

 

  • Responsible for complex analytics, staff models and financial insight and partners closely with Line Management and Operations Senior Leaders to assist in solving business problems
  • Extracts, manipulates and disseminates large amounts of data in a clear and concise business format, to assist Line Management/Operations in making business decisions for staffing, process improvement and cost benefit analysis
  • Responsible for development and communication of monthly reports, including staffing model changes and source data, for Claims Leaders and Protection Finance
  • Perform complex ad-hoc analysis in order to troubleshoot and problem solve as a member of cross functional teams to identify causes and solutions to cost and expense variances
  • Individually create advanced Business Objects queries and reports, utilizing SQL, multiple queries and other advanced techniques.
  • Work with Protection Finance and project managers to perform complex ad hoc business problem analysis, communicate staffing model impacts and develop in-depth forecasts

 

Job Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or pending Degree in a Technical area of study including Finance, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering
  • 1-3 years of experience at Allstate or within related field
  • Experience in data acquisition and manipulation applications (Business Objects, SAS, SQL Developer, MS Access)
  • Knowledge and application of advanced mathematical concepts to solve problems and prepare data for analysis
  • Experience organizing hypotheses, results and analysis into an effective communication package (PowerPoint, Tableau)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams
  • Ability to thrive in both structured and project-oriented work environments
  • Self-starter with motivation and discipline to complete work on time with Manager oversight
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
