Job Description

The Project Management team at Allstate Dealer Services (ADS) is responsible for planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources to achieve and bring about beneficial change or added value through specific goals.  Projects are temporary endeavors with a defined beginning and end constrained by scope, time, funding and quality.  Project Management operations at ADS meets the unique goals and objectives typically associated with such endeavors to develop distinct software product, business process and IT infrastructure outcomes with an emphasis on improved technical skills and management strategies. 

 

The Project Management Senior Consultant applies industry recognized professional principles, practices, and techniques to lead project teams in the planning and implementation of assigned projects to include project schedules, costs, and performance risks to ensure satisfied clients.   This role has the ultimate ongoing responsibility for meeting the commitments for all assigned projects and to manage client satisfaction and expectations.  Core competencies include experience in managing all phases of multiple small to medium sized projects in all aspects to include but not limited to initiation, planning, scheduling, execution, monitoring, roll out and stakeholder’s communications.  This role generally involves assigned non-critical standardized projects but depending upon the professional growth of the individual, the Project Manager may be assigned to all or part of more complex projects and may work with other Project Managers on such projects.  (This position has no direct reports.)

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree required in Project Management, Business, Computer Science or related discipline
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in leading / working on multiple projects in a SDLC driven development environment with exposure to external client relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools to include but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio
  • Expert competence with MS Project or similar project scheduling software
  • Project Management (PMP) or equivalent certification is required; Project Management Institute (PMI) Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification a plus
  • Previous work in a Project Management Office environment preferred

  • Proven excellent verbal/written communications skills required in order to communicate persuasively and tactfully with all levels of management, co-workers, and external clients
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to be goal focused and results driven, including driving project related risks, issues and concerns to closure
  • Focus and attention to detail
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collect and research data; use intuition and experience to complement data; strategic thinking skills; strong analytical skills
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem solving situations
  • Strong relationship building and refined conflict/crisis management skills
  • Confident in making decisions and consistent in seeking out answers to questions for guidance when needed
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage competing demands; flexibility to change approach or method to best fit the situations; able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
  • Ability to respond to management direction; take responsibility for own actions; keep commitments; willing to work additional time when necessary to reach goals; complete tasks on time or notify management with an alternate plan
