Job Description

The Allstate Life Insurance Company of New York (ALICNY) work unit provides all customer service and administrative support for policies issued in the state of The Allstate Life Insurance Company of New YorkNew York.

This position provides advanced level customer service and support to the ALICNY policyholders, employer groups, and brokers.  Plans and initiates special projects and provides administrative support to the Team Leader.

Key responsibilities:

  • Handle telephone inquiries from NY policyholders, brokers, and employer groups
  • Resolve payment discrepancy reports
  • Ensure deadlines are met
  • Provide training as needed
  • Research and fulfill customer requests related to billing questions
  • Process refund checks and reallocating premium as necessary
  • Process policy transactions for withdrawn or declined policies, cancellations, billing changes
  • Clear premium suspense items
  • Handle policy over loans
  • Assist with operational efficiency projects
  • Assist the Team Leader with special projects
  • Determine appropriate issues to escalate to management
  • Continuously build skills and knowledge by receiving coaching and feedback and participate in ongoing training

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma / GED required
  • 3 years customer service experience
  • Insurance industry background a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel
  • Life70 mainframe processing experience a plus
  • Understanding of Benefit Administration’s business area processes
  • Ability to multitask with advanced organizational skills
  • Ability to utilize established practices while making informed independent decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
