The knowledge and expertise you’ve gained as a leader in the project management space isn’t the only thing that makes you exceptional – your passion for developing others and fostering engagement and empowering others is what sets you apart as a professional.  As the Project Management Office (PMO) Manager, you will be an integral part of Allstate Benefit’s Technology (ABT) team. You will inspire and lead project managers that execute IT-related projects and programs that are of a complex and critical nature.

 

THIS POSITION REQUIRES EXPERIENCE IN BUILDING PMO PRACTICES AT AN ENTERPRISE LEVEL, ENHANCING THEM, AND LEADING THE WHOLE PMO OFFICE

Responsibilities


The responsibilities of this opportunity will align with the overall business unit’s goals and include:

• Provides strategic leadership and professional development to a team of project and program managers focused on managing Allstate Benefit’s technology projects and programs which support the business capabilities.
• Builds long-term relationships within team and among peers by creating an environment of safety and innovation.
• Aligns Allstate Benefits Technology PMO tools and processes and the adoption of those tools and processes to the Allstate technology and Strategic Ventures PMO tools and processes, where appropriate.
• Models and creates an environment of accountability for direct reports and peers.
• Executes HR-related processes and develops staff through coaching and mentoring and providing specific, timely, open, honest, and constructive performance feedback.
• Initiates and implements continuous improvements in all areas of IT responsibility.
• Negotiates solutions for issues that may be complex or controversial.
• Anticipates issues and develops preventive measures.
• Adapts communication approach for audiences at multiple internal and external levels.
• Influences direct reports, clients, service providers and peers to successfully deliver on business commitments.
• Partners with others in their organization to set and manage expectations; continually seeks opportunities to be a thought partner and increase internal business partner satisfaction and deepen relationships.

Job Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.


Required
• Have a minimum of 8+ years management experience of managing project manager’s and
• Have minimum of 2+ years relevant Project Management experience and
• Have intermediate knowledge of MS Project and
• Have a deep understanding of SDLC and PMO processes; and
• Have familiarity with the following methodologies: Waterfall and SCRUM or XP
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
• Strong written/verbal communication and facilitation skills for communicating at all levels; including strong presentation skills
• Demonstrate strong skills in team leadership, coaching and conflict management

Preferred
• Project Management experience in Voluntary Benefits or the Insurance industry is preferred, but not required
• Have intermediate knowledge of MS Project Web Access
• Relevant project management certification, such as: PMP (Project Management Professional or CSM (Certified Scrum Master)

 

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.  On site required, no work from home
