Job Description

The Finance and Planning team is responsible for producing timely and insightful results and projection analysis; preparing the annual strategic and operating plans and related forecasts; producing messaging on Plan results to senior leaders; and developing internal management based reporting for The Allstate Corporation’s Investments Portfolio.

 

The Financial and Planning Associate Manager on the Finance and Planning Team provides insight related to results, projections, and impacts of potential actions related to the investment portfolio.  They should have an understanding of economics and financial statement reporting, as well as projection methodologies, for a diverse set of investments and asset types.  In addition, they will be expected to identify opportunities for improvement across key team processes.

Management

  • Monitor team capacity and set workloads
  • Review and provide feedback on individual goals
  • Define individual priorities
  • Achieve optimal performance from direct reports
  • Solves moderately complex problems and makes decisions that impacts team

 

Communication

  • Provide status, risk assessments, and performance metrics to Senior Management
  • Define and communicate changing policies and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Build cross-functional partnerships with Portfolio and Asset Management teams as well as business unit representatives outside the Investment group
  • Clearly articulate point-of-view, taking into account the perspective of all related parties
  • Foster a team environment

 

Functional

  • Execute the planning and analysis activities (i.e. plan processes, cash forecasting, results and projection analysis, and other internal management reporting activities) for Allstate’s investment portfolio.
  • Interact with other organizational areas in development of plan assumptions and analytical processes
  • Work with team to review and analyze calculation methodologies, report generation, and presentation approaches for relevant team deliverables.
  • Prepare, analyze, and maintain messaging of Plan results for senior management
  • Perform due diligence review of vendor and calculation methodologies in relation to company’s planning software.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and thought leadership to portfolio concepts and messaging
  • Perform special projects and analyses as requested by management.

 

Job Qualifications

  • 8+ years of capital markets, finance, accounting and/or reporting experience, preferably in the Investments or Financial Services industries.
  • Finance/Accounting degree required
  • CPA/CFA/MBA candidate preferred
  • Microsoft Excel, Access and SAP skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
