Job Description

The Automation CoE Director is a transformational leader who will build and lead a team to advance the usage of automation tools and techniques across a wide range of business and technology processes, working with these areas to build and operationalize automation solutions.

The Automation CoE will be responsible for:


  • Establishing an automation operating model focused on ensuring secure and controlled use of automation capabilities
  • Thought leadership in conjunction with Allstate innovation and research scientists on automation delivery and vendor landscapes
  • Operational Support for automation tools and solutions
  • Building proof-of-concept and productionalized automation solutions across the spectrum of automation/robotics, such as robotic process automation, digital/virtual assistance, and cognitive computing


The Automation CoE Director leads a team within Allstate’s Technology and Strategic Ventures (ATSV) that develops the cutting edge automation technology products.  The Director sets the strategic direction for the CoE in support of the business objectives of the company and in alignment with the DCIO areas, ensuring the structures and processes needed to effectively deliver the mission of their organization are in place.  They create a work environment that enables employees to be their best and deliver on their accountabilities.  They are personally accountable for creating organizational change, delivering business results by developing the team.  They demonstrate a broad level of influence across the IT organization, with their business partners, peer leaders and senior leaders. 

Job Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience in a highly technical role
  • Proven record of transformation leadership
  • Prior Artificial Intelligence/Automation experience a significant plus
  • Extreme bias for action and ability to thrive in the “gray”; experience driving iterative thinking and results
  • Experience with highly agile software development methodologies and structures
  • Highly connected to and aware of the external tech community
